Your Journey Day by Day

Day 01

Arrival at Wilpattu

A naturalist guide greets you at the airport and transfers you north into the ancient forest wilderness bordering Wilpattu National Park. Check into a magnificent luxury tented suite – four-poster beds, private decks and lantern-lit pathways through the forest. Sundowner drinks by the campfire as the last light fades over the ancient lakes.

Day 02

Wilpattu Safari & Nature Walk

Dawn breaks and the forest awakens – board a jeep for an immersive early morning safari through Wilpattu’s vast network of villu (natural lakes) and dense jungle. Sri Lankan leopards, sloth bears and rare endemic birds await the patient eye. Return to camp for a sumptuous brunch and an afternoon nature walk with your expert naturalist.

Day 03

Bird Walk & Journey to Sigiriya

Begin with a tranquil birdwatching walk around Wilpattu’s shimmering lakes, then travel east to the cultural heartland. Your destination is the unique Diyabubula, a creative jungle hideaway where art, nature and luxury merge beneath forest canopies. A lantern-lit dinner beneath the ancient trees sets a mood of total enchantment.

Day 04

Dambulla Caves & Sigiriya Countryside

Explore the ancient Dambulla Cave Temple, its gilded interior sheltering over 150 Buddha statues painted across rock-hewn chambers. The afternoon unfolds more gently – guided trails through the Sigiriya countryside reveal lake reflections, paddy birds and village life. An optional traditional cooking experience adds warmth and cultural connection.

Day 05

Sigiriya Rock Summit at Dawn

Rise before the sun and begin the climb of Sigiriya Rock Fortress as mist still clings to the forest below. The panorama from the summit – 360 degrees of jungle, farmland and the gleaming Minneriya lake – rewards every step. Return for a late breakfast and spend the afternoon cycling through the surrounding farmland at leisure.

Day 06

Knuckles Mountain Camp

Wind through mountain switchbacks as the landscape rises dramatically into the mist-wrapped Knuckles Range. Your eco-luxury glamping camp is perched magnificently above misty valleys – private tents with panoramic views, gourmet meals served beneath the open sky and the intoxicating cool of highland air filling your lungs at every breath.

Day 07

Knuckles Cloud Forest Trek

A morning guided trek through cloud forests dense with moss, ferns, endemic lizards and rare birds found nowhere else on earth. Your naturalist guide reveals details of this UNESCO Biosphere Reserve’s incredible biodiversity. Afternoons invite optional birdwatching or yoga, before an evening of stargazing from your private camp terrace.

Day 08

Ella Mountain Retreat

Descend from the clouds through tea country, stopping at silvery waterfalls and roadside viewpoints draped in mist. Arrive in Ella and check into a boutique mountain retreat surrounded by tea estates stretching to every horizon. The cool evening air calls for warm tea, a good book and peaceful contemplation of the view.

Day 09

Nine Arch Bridge & Little Adam's Peak

Morning light is perfect for the Nine Arch Bridge, a colonial railway viaduct, particularly emerging from jungle greenery. The optional hike to Little Adam’s Peak rewards with sweeping valley panoramas and a sense of gentle triumph. Afternoons are for the resort’s infinity pool and the quiet luxury of doing absolutely nothing.

Day 10

Yala Safari Lodge

Travel south to the legendary wilderness of Yala National Park and check into the spectacular Chena Huts, each private villa perched on stilts above the scrub with breathtaking views into the parklands. As the sun descends, the deck becomes a front-row seat for the theatre of Africa’s most dramatic wildlife evening show.

Day 11

Yala Wildlife Safari

An early morning jeep safari into Yala’s ancient tanks and scrub jungle – wildlife photography in golden light is simply extraordinary. Leopards draped over rocks, herds of elephants splashing at waterholes, crocodiles basking on riverbanks. Return to camp for a luxurious brunch and an afternoon of spa therapy beside your private plunge pool.

Day 12

Southern Coast Farewell

A slow morning in the wilderness before travelling to the secluded southern coast near Tangalle. Visit Rekawa Beach for a tender turtle-conservation experience, if the season permits. Your farewell dinner unfolds beneath the stars on the beach – waves lapping, candles flickering and the warm contentment of a journey beautifully completed.

Day 13

Departure

A final leisurely breakfast overlooking the Indian Ocean before your private transfer along the Southern Expressway to the airport. You carry with you not just photographs and souvenirs, but the rare feeling of having truly experienced Sri Lanka – its wild heart, its warm culture and its enduring capacity to surprise and enchant.
