Your Journey Day by Day

Day 01

Arrival in Negombo

Your adventure begins at Bandaranaike International Airport, where you’ll receive a warm welcome and a private transfer to the seaside town of Negombo. A gentle afternoon stroll along the historic Dutch Canal or the beach sets the ideal tone – relaxed breathing, sea air and the quiet anticipation of the trails that lie ahead in the days to come.

Day 02

Into the Knuckles Mountain Range

Drive through the verdant heart of the island, pausing at Matale’s fragrant spice gardens before ascending into the Knuckles Mountain Range, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve of rugged ridges and misty valleys. Settle into a hillside lodge framed by ancient forest and trek to a nearby viewpoint for a golden evening panorama.

Day 03

Full-Day Knuckles Trek

A full-day guided trek through one of Sri Lanka’s most pristine wilderness areas – cloud forests dripping with moss, hidden waterfalls, ancient tea trails and remote mountain villages where life continues as it always has. Picnic beside a stream in the forest, spot endemic birds and return with aching legs and a glowing soul.

Day 04

Kandy Rest Day

Descend to the cultural capital of Kandy for a well-earned day of gentler exploration. Wander the shores of Kandy Lake, visit the ornate Temple of the Tooth Relic and browse the vibrant local markets. The evening invites complete rest – or perhaps a stroll through the illuminated city streets before tomorrow’s adventures.

Day 05

Scenic Train to Nuwara Eliya

Board the legendary hill country train and ride through one of the world’s most breathtaking railway landscapes – misty tunnels, terraced tea gardens and cascading waterfalls at every turn. Arrive in Nuwara Eliya, the cool highland city, for a leisurely plantation walk, expert tea tasting and a peaceful evening amid mountain air.

Day 06

Maskeliya & Castlereigh Reservoir

Drive to the hauntingly beautiful Maskeliya Reservoir, where the spires of a submerged colonial-era town rise ghostlike from the water’s surface at low season. Discover the thundering Gartmore Falls and the serene Castlereigh Reservoir, where an optional kayaking session rewards you with tranquil views of mirror-still mountain waters.

Day 07

Pre-Dawn Adam's Peak Climb

The most profound ascent of the journey – Adam’s Peak rises 2,243 metres, its sacred summit graced by a footprint shrine revered by Buddhists, Hindus, Muslims and Christians alike. A pre-dawn start through lantern-lit steps leads to one of the most spectacular sunrises imaginable, as shadow pyramids dance across the highland horizon.

Day 08

Rest & Ayurveda Recovery

After the exertion of Adam’s Peak, today is entirely yours for rest and renewal. Soothe tired muscles with a deeply rejuvenating traditional Ayurvedic massage – warm herbal oils, skilled hands and ancient techniques that restore every sinew. Afternoon pool time, gentle stretching and nourishing food complete this essential day of recovery.

Day 09

Horton Plains Plateau Trek

Journey to the highest plateau in Sri Lanka – the windswept Horton Plains – for a trek to World’s End, where the plateau drops a sheer 870 metres into the misty lowlands below. Baker’s Falls cascades magnificently nearby, while sambar deer graze along the trail and endemic highland birds call from the cloud forest.

Day 10

Train Ride to Ella

Continue the rail journey to magical Ella, a village of waterfalls, hanging bridges and panoramic hilltop cafes. Short hikes to Ravana Falls and the Nine Arch Bridge provide the perfect afternoon adventure, while the evening invites optional sunset yoga or simply sitting with a pot of tea as the valley fills with stars.

Day 11

Ella Rock Sunrise Hike

The finest hike in Ella awaits: a challenging pre-dawn ascent of Ella Rock, rewarded at the summit with a jaw-dropping 360-degree panorama of misty ridges, emerald valleys, and the silhouette of Adam’s Peak on the horizon. The sunrise here is pure magic. Afternoon is entirely your own for rest and gentle exploration.

Day 12

Belihuloya Wilderness

Descend to the lush river valley of Belihuloya, where the Belihul Oya river crashes through gorges and jungle. A final day of adventure offers a waterfall hike, a refreshing natural river bath and the thrilling rush of white-water rafting through churning rapids. The farewell dinner by the river is a fitting send-off.

Day 13

Return to Colombo & Departure

Your final morning in the hills – breathe in the mountain air one last time before the drive back to Colombo. An optional city tour or shopping stop allows you to do some last-minute souvenir hunting before your airport transfer. You depart with lungs full of mountain air, legs tempered by trails and memories that will never fade.
